Northwest Argentina

Definitely a beautiful region…

Sector Rojo

On our way up north to end Argentina we went through several different landscapes, each just as pretty as the one before. The first, just north of Cayafate, was the red area, or so I call it.

Red

Curves never ending on this stretch of wonderful landscape. And a couple of pretty cool quick roadside stops.

A view of the valley and curves
The Monolith!
Our second Gargantua del Diablo. Here’s the entrance.
It was a huge round area with a cascade of gaps. Guessing water can flow hardcore through here. Bone dry today.
More stunning landscape.
Next one was called the Auditorium. Same as before, giant hollowed our area, but this one full of tourists, but a guitarist making use of the acoustics.

Salta and Jujuy

Two towns we didn’t spend too much time in. Saw a pretty dope C-class though so I have to add it.

I dig.

Green

When we hit the Salta-Jujuy area, everything got insanely green and quite rainy. They don’t build a bridge over each river, sometimes just a dip in the concrete so if the river actually runs, it just runs over the road. Made some interesting crossings. Everything in this area was so insanely green, up until a very steep and long mountain pass and through a cloud…

Ha ha, neither of us have any pictures of it.

7 Colors

After the mountain pass, everything became a desert again, but the rocks had every color in them, pretty dope. Also everything lost its normal people touch and everyone was dressed in traditional colorful clothing and stuff. I don’t like taking pictures of people, so use your imagination.

Some red areas too.

Pucará was another stop. An old Inca city, unfortunately very well rebuilt, newer than most houses in Stuttgart.

Temple of sacrifice. Newer than my underwear.
Door you don’t wanna walk through.
Cactus hugging hippie.

There was then another tour to the mountain of 14 colors or something, we grabbed this free view of something similar.

The shark tooth pattern is pretty cool.
Nice view from above.
Some of these places were crazy climbing drives to get to.
Some more colorful mountains.
And of course, a hike to a waterfall. The third guargantuan del Diablo. This actually ain’t it, they built a damn around it later down the river.

And that was that! Argentina despite being always confusing is unfortunately over, but we are excited about our next stop, Bolivia!!!
