I’m used to everything itching

Leaving Trogir and Split without seeing Trogir nor Split and we make our way down South (as the blog is named). We pass by Makarska and it’s steep mountains on our way to Drvenik, where another short little ferry to the island of Hvar.

Last few nights we have been eaten alive by mosquitos, but I have invested enough time into Hubi, think she is 99% mosquito safe. As Michelle said to her mother, “I’m used to everything itching”. Now she knows what it’s like to be a guy.

Most beautiful island ever?

One of our sources for info for this trip listed the island of Hvar as one of the 10 most beautiful islands in the world. Now… I’m not insulting this island, as it is grand. But no. Not even close.

Great drive down an insanely narrow street with sheer drops on the side and oncoming truck traffic made for half of the adventure to our little campsite, followed by the town construction adding to the other half of the adventure. Got here, got a nice spot.

Ocean view! Beach access! And shade! Ever so valuable shade
Just a short little hop to the next town of Jelsa
Jelsa finally has a donkey for You know who!

Good food and company but no kukoc or Vlade jokes at dinner and then Mount Ice Cream.

It’s mostly fruit! So she says.

Back to our beach spot for some nice mosquito free sleeping (ok, was one, but I think he was leftover) and the next morning get some hiking in.

Mopeds only

As we learned from Danijel, the architecture here is from the Romans, Venitians or Austrio-Hungarian. This town at this point pure Venetian with very narrow streets. The Navi wanted me to drive through them.

Then we got lost in some dudes Olive field. He gave us mixed directions 10 times as we bumbled through his trees and walls and were totally lost. Nice fellow, at first he was very nice but at the end I think he was upset with us.

Best view.
At the top! A tower! Very old. the Kula Tor.
Then a medieval city. Grad Galesnik.
Everywhere was written Grod. Maybe that’s the name. Or a local football team.
Still standing, and no Fundament for all those complaining about my garden.

Then a nice walk down, hit the town unfortunately the exact same moment as the tourist ferry so the town was lively, we like it lame :). Few beers, a nap, a swim, a shower, a way too big burger, a cocktail and 8pm bedtime! Off to go see some lakes!
