The lakes of Plitvicka are recommended by all from all, so we left the coast to go inland. Some fun windy and windy (free beer if you know the difference!) roads through mountains and we made it to very green and wet Lake Plitvicka area. We made it here early afternoon, so we decided to do half the park today and half to tomorrow. We went to entrance two for day one.

Tip for anyone going there, you can easily kill the entire park and see all the waterfalls in max 3 hours. And you are faster on foot than the ferries. Go ti entrance one and do route K.

The place really really really reminded me of our first Sendero in South America on the Carretera Austral. All wooden walkways, wet, and waterfalls. Luckily for us here in Croatia, in this day, minimum tourists. Would hate to be here with the masses, and I am sure that is how it is in the summer.

The Uni-Mog itself was awesome but the route it drove could have been done by a Yugo. The car not the person. Well, I guess the person too. The thing ended up being too big and just riding the brakes for 15 minutes. Other recommendations for the route back: Bobby cars, sleds, long boards or go karts with banana peels.
Went to Camp Korona, owned by the national park. Great name. About 1000 German RVs, half stuck in the mud.

Was really pissing rain, slept in for a while then eventually got up for day two where we went to entrance one for the other half.

And that’s it for the lakes. In case anyone goes there, go to Entrance One and do Route K all on foot till the end and take the Unimog all the way back. You’ll see all the waterfalls and be done in 3 hours.

Great times! We were both shocked that after South America that we could still be impressed by waterfalls but it was really really nice. Go there when no tourists are there, and it’s worth it! Great hike too, nice shoes!
Schatz im Silbersee wurde dort gedreht!

Great pics, seems like everyone has been going to Croatia. At least you haven’t had to deal with hordes of tourists so far. We are going to Lisbon late August.
