Nad and Stockholm

Normally avoiding any major city is a priority. Even Heidelberg was difficult to drive in. I nearly had a meltdown driving through Stuttgart.

So why go to Stockholm? Nad is there. I’ve known Nad since first years of college. Nad is backwards for Dan, can’t remember making the nickname but it’s coming up to 25 years and still sticks.

Playground in Stockholm. Hip.

We start our drive a little ambitious and stop at a mall in Norrköping for a little breakfast and chill before the last nervous leg. Freya specifically ordered pancakes in Swedish. I’m nervous and worried about driving into the city, but in the end, a few illegal traffic manouvers standard for any Chicagoan and we reached our goal!

Head check for a nap.

We’ve been to Stockholm before so no need for sightseeing, Nad is the sight to see. He recommends the Rålambshovs park which is great, graffiti and hip. Pretty cool. He also recommended this park cause it’s one of the few you can drink open alcohol in. Some things from college never change!

The drums were fun. Never buy her a drum set.
Great park for kids all ages.

And then the one and only Nad and family show up! Stephanie Mia and Roman. His full grown adult children play on the equipment and love the trampoline for a while till we hit the park and Dan brought some cold ones. And some excellent bretzel chips.

Ducks want either beer or deposit on cans.

Jokes were getting started, flashbacks memories and laughs all included. After a few more we hop skip and jump to a local taco place with outstanding service.

One of the two is happy.
Everyone say skål!

And just when the laughs were getting the best, it was time to say goodbye. Was great to see you all!

Next day we have seen Stockholm already, so needed to find an activity for Freya. I somehow drove through the city center and survived.

Nice drive by view.

Junibacken by the Wasa (cracker) and ABBA (band) museums was the morning plans for Freya.

Gonna be a jailbreak!
The roof is always the safest place to be.
Even the fake horse is sad.
Freya usually tries to reserve the entire restaurant for herself.
Hungry hippo!

And then out of Stockholm! Next stop, Uppsala!
